Today, our largest turnover actually comes from the USA, says Bona’s IT manager Tomas Malmqvist
Bona’s range includes both professional products for floor sanders and industries. Also materials that private individuals can buy to maintain their own wooden floors.
We started with SAP in 2010 and are now running everywhere except for a small subsidiary in Romania and a small factory in China. Right now we are running on ERP but have started the upgrade to HANA where the first part is the database part, says Tomas Malmqvist.
SAP’s business system S/4 HANA was launched a year ago. So far, few Swedish companies have taken the plunge to switch to the new platform.
The goal for Bona is to have S/4 HANA Finance in place during the year. As a partner in this rollout work, Bona has hired Implema, which has previously helped a couple of Swedish companies to roll out S/4 Hana.
Implema is also one of an exclusive group of suppliers that SAP has certified for operating services around Hana. Something that takes place at Implema’s operations center in Örebro.
The work towards S/4 HANA begins with us developing a copy of our production system and then migrating this to S/4 Finance in a so-called sandbox environment.
Tomas Malmqvist describes a work process where they will test and evaluate SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation. This is to, among other things, create a budget in the new system.
In this sandbox environment, Bona will also test the mobile platform Fiori. Which makes it possible to access most things via tablets and mobiles.
Fiori will be a spice that will make it all more palatable when we present it to our economists and other users, says Tomas Malmqvist.
However, he emphasizes that most users will initially not notice any major difference.
Apart from the mobile functions, most people will continue to run on the same interface. An important difference, however, is that everything goes so much faster because you use memory databases instead of the old SQL databases. Things that used to take ten minutes can now be done in a couple of seconds.
