Why are more companies choosing to move from traditional SAP BW environments to SAP Business Data Cloud?
– SAP BW, Business Warehouse, has long been a central platform for SAP customers’ data storage, reporting, and analytics. Many companies have built up extensive data models and business logic in their SAP BW environments over a long period. But requirements are changing rapidly. Companies need to be able to combine data from more sources, gain better access to business information, and use their data in new ways, not least with the help of AI.
At the same time, this is no simple technical upgrade. Companies need to decide how existing data models, business logic, and investments should be carried forward to a new platform. It involves strategic technical choices, ensuring data quality, perhaps making certain simplifications, and identifying the capabilities they want to create for the business moving forward.
What becomes possible with SAP Business Data Cloud that wasn’t as easy before – especially regarding AI?
– A major challenge has long been making business data available for new use cases without losing the business logic and context residing in the systems. With SAP Business Data Cloud, it becomes possible to build on the information and investments companies have already made while allowing data to be used in new ways.
– This is particularly interesting from an AI perspective. AI doesn’t just need access to high-quality data; it also needs to understand what the information means to the business. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly important to make business data available while maintaining semantics and context. This creates entirely new conditions for using AI in business processes and decision-making.
What will participants take away from your presentation with Arvid Nordquist?
– We will provide a concrete insight into Arvid Nordquist’s ongoing transformation from SAP BW 7.5 to SAP Business Data Cloud. Together with their CIO Erik Juhlin, we will discuss the project, show examples of new solutions, and explain how SAP Business AI becomes part of the future solution.
What hopefully makes the presentation particularly interesting is that we can share experiences from a real transformation that is happening right now. It’s about the strategic choices that need to be made, the opportunities the new platform opens up, and how to take the step from an established BW environment to a modern foundation for data, analytics, and AI.
